With 80+ kids participating in various events, it was amazing to see the effort, creativity and time that both parents and kids invested in their submissions. KAW invites you to join us for “KAW Children’s Day Celebrations” on Saturday, Nov 14th when we celebrate India's visionary first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru's birthday as Children's day. As part of 2020 Children’s Day, KAW will be hosting a series of offline and online events including Coloring, Recitation, Pencil Drawing, Essay Writing, Story Writing, Poem Writing, Elocution for kids ranging from Pre-School to High-School.

Pre-School
  • Crayon Coloring (KAW will provide the image)
  • Malayalam Recitation ( Kunjunni Mashinte Kavitha, Min 4 distinct lines)
Elementary 1 (K - 2nd Grade)
  • Color Painting (Crayon, Markers, or Color Pencils) - Theme: Season
  • Malayalam Recitation (Min 8 distinct lines)
Elementary 2 (3rd - 5th Grade)
  • Pencil Drawing - Theme: Pandemic
  • Color painting (Any medium) - Theme: Season
  • Malayalam Recitation (Min 12 distinct lines)
  • Essay Writing (English) - Topic: Should Plastic be banned - 200 words
  • Story Writing (Theme of your choice)
Middle (6th - 8th Grade)
  • Pencil Drawing - Theme: Pandemic
  • Color painting (Any medium) - Theme: Changing Season
  • English Essay Writing - Topic: Pollution due to Urbanization (Min 350 words)

Rules for the Events:
  • All Participants should be KAW members
  • All competitions are individual events
  • Children can participate in multiple events
  • Each participant needs to complete a separate form. You can use the same form to register for multiple events for the same participant.
  • Regardless of you participate in online/offline events you must submit your registration by filling out this form before 9:00PM Wednesday, Nov 8th
  • For Offline events: If you have registered to participate, submit your files as per the instructions listed in the email you recieved from kaw connect (Sub: KAW Children's Day Submission Details), by Sunday Nov 15th 2020 9:00PM PST
  • Judges decision will be final for all events
  • For Painting and Drawing:
    • Submit 2 photos of your artwork - one of only the artwork, and one with the participant
    • Encourage kids to provide a short description of their work with the submission
  • For all the writing events - follow the minimum limits
  • Malayalam Recitation entries should be submitted as recorded videos
Scoring Guidelines:
  • Painting/Drawing: Neatness, Completeness, Relevancy to the Theme, Creativity
  • Coloring: Neatness, Crayons/Color Pencil Control & Completeness
  • Essay: Organization, Content(Staying within the topic), Word Choice/Usage, Grammar, and Sentence structure
  • Recitation: Pace, clarity, expression, fluency
  • Elocution: Organization, Topic Knowledge, Audience Adaptation, Language Use (Verbal effectiveness) & Delivery (Non Verbal effectiveness)
  • Story/Poem Writing: Organization, Completeness, Style (Word choice/integration of Dialogues/narration), Creative plot, Grammar and Sentence structure
